Building Art & Environment teams and supporting from production to launch and beyond.
About The Project
In November 2023, Modma Studios began collaborating with Supercell on Squad Busters during an early stage of the game's development. What started as a focused 3D character art test with a single artist evolved into a structured art production partnership supporting characters, environments, renders, and live content updates.
Over the next two years, Modma Studios became a reliable content scaling partner for the project. Through dedicated art pods and disciplined production workflows, the team delivered assets while maintaining strong visual consistency, high acceptance rates, and reliable milestone delivery.
The collaboration continued until the game's final production update in December 2025.

The Challange
As Squad Busters expanded, the demand for stylized, production-ready assets increased rapidly. The game required a wide range of assets including characters, environments, and marketing renders while maintaining the bold visual identity of the game.
The production environment required:
• Scalable game art production across multiple asset categories
• Consistent stylization across characters and environments
• High-volume character art and environment art creation
• Reliable turnaround times aligned with milestone-based releases
• Seamless integration into internal production pipelines
Supercell needed a partner capable of scaling art teams quickly while maintaining visual quality, technical stability, and predictable delivery timelines.
Our Approach
Start Lean, Scale Smart

The collaboration began with one dedicated 3D artist focused on character styling and development. This initial test phase helped establish creative alignment and production reliability.
Once alignment was achieved, Modma Studios scaled the collaboration methodically by expanding the team and introducing structured production workflows.
To support efficient scaling, Modma Studios established three focused production pods:
• Character Art Team
• Environment Team
• Art QA Team
This pod-based structure allowed parallel production, clear ownership, and scalable asset delivery.
Cross- Functional Production

Delivering with Production Discipline

Production workflows were embedded into milestone-based release cycles to support the game's content updates. Structured reviews, QA validation, and coordinated delivery ensured assets met visual standards while maintaining stable production timelines.
This approach allowed Modma Studios to deliver high volumes of assets while maintaining strong quality control.

Strategic Contribution

Through structured art pods and disciplined workflows, Modma Studios supported Squad Busters during its most content-intensive production phases.
The collaboration demonstrated how scalable game art production pipelines enable studios to expand content rapidly while maintaining strong visual consistency. Over the course of the project, Modma Studios functioned as:
• A scalable game art production partner
• A structured art pod extension for the internal team
• A reliable milestone delivery partner
• A content scaling engine supporting a global game IP
Key Takeaway
Scaling a global game universe requires more than creative talent. It requires structured production systems, dedicated teams, and reliable delivery processes.
